Dr Jason Lutze PhD BRurSc GAICD has extensive experience in the Australian and International regulatory system for Crop Protection products and Veterinary Medicines. Jason was most recently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. Under Dr Lutze’s leadership the agency increased on time pesticide registration performance from 24% to 95% and made a number of world first approvals of novel products. In Dr Lutze’s early career he was an expert in carbon cycling in agricultural systems and has published on global change topics.

- Executive Director, Risk Assessment Capability, APVMA.
- Health Canada awarded Dr Lutze and others for their collaboration and contribution to the first tripartite approval of a new use of a veterinary medicine.
- Science Leader, Residues and Trade, APVMA.
- Dr Lutze was responsible for MRL establishment and trade risk assessment where he led the development and implementation of reforms to reduce the lag in MRL establishment between the Food Code and the APVMA MRL Standard from between 9 to 18 months to 10 to 14 weeks.
- Senior Policy Officer – Chemical Residues, Animal Products Market Access Branch, Exports Division, AQIS.
- Dr Lutze was responsible for market development and maintenance, and issues and incident management, related to chemical residues.

- Co-chair (Govt.) of the OECD Residues Chemistry Expert Group (RCEG) Rotational Residue Guideline writing group.
- Deputy Delegation Leader of the Australian Delegation to the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR).
- Deputy Delegation Leader of the Australian Delegation to the Codex Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods (CCRVDF).
- Member of the VICH Metabolism and Residue Kinetics electronic working group for veterinary medicines.
- Participation in international capacity building activities.
Dr Lutze has practical farming experience having worked on the family farm and as a share farmer for 4 years before pursuing his tertiary education. He currently resides close to the family farm on the Yorke Peninsula and is engaged with his share farmer in crop selection, management, and grain marketing.
